Re-Discover Dundee E-Trike Launch

The Dundee Green Health Partnership has been formed by Dundee City Council, NHS Tayside and Scottish Natural Heritage and works in collaboration with organisations and individuals who promote the benefits of our natural environment on health and wellbeing. Our project was awarded £14,661 from the Energy Saving Trust for the purchase of 2 e-bikes, 8 e-trikes and 1 trailer.

Re-Discover Dundee will be delivered by Volunteer Dundee and Dundee Voluntary Action and aims to encourage individuals and groups, with a particular focus on the aging population facing inactivity and isolation, to join in guided rides as an opportunity to stay active and re-discover our nearby green spaces. Some cycling trips will be recreational and some will be functional journeys. Lots of trips will happen in our lovely parks as people grow in confidence.

Dundee is the first city in Scotland to pilot e-trike rides so that more people can test ride e-bikes.  One of the advantages of e-trike riding is the increased stability, so even those who have poor balance or limited confidence in riding can enjoy a spin safely and comfortably.  Also, trikes will give riders an extra boost if required, making cycling more accessible to more people, regardless of their fitness levels and ability.
