Guidance for Referrers
We now operate a “Drop-In” where anyone can come in and use the website and paper system if they wish without an appointment. Please phone and make an appointment if you can. This makes sure that a member of staff is available. Staff will help individuals to select organisations most suited to their needs and to phone organisations from our office.
Advice for referal agencies:
- Please make sure that the client is clear that they are under no pressure to volunteer and that it will not affect their benefits. See our information page on Volunteering while on Benefits
- If they have access to the internet, ask them to look at the website for ideas.
- If job seeking we can try and match the opportunity to the area of work they are interested in but research shows that any type of volunteering is looked upon favourably by employers. Download our Volunteering can Work for You leaflet and Referral Card for further information.
- Clients can visit the Volunteer Centre as often as they wish.
- We can offer further support and advice and assist your clients to gain a suitable volunteering opportunity - check out our support page for volunteers.
