MV Awards
What is the MV Award?
The MV Award Scheme is open to all volunteers between the ages of 16 and 25 and aims to help recognise the contribution they make in their local area. If involved in a group of volunteers then young people aged 14+ are eligible for the award.
- Registering for the award is free for both organisations and individual volunteers.
- This is a national scheme backed by the Scottish Executive and is administered through Vvolunteer Centre Network.
- There are award certificates for completing 50, 100 or 200 hours of voluntary service within a 2 year period.
- The 50 hour, 100 hour Certificates are signed by the John Swinney, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth and the 200 hour Certificate is signed by Alex Salmond, First Minister of Scotland.
- There is very little administration involved.
- The hours contributed by existing volunteers can be backdated when calculating eligibility for an award.
- Hours of service with more than one organisation can be added together for an award as long as the organisations are registered with the scheme.
What are the benefits of taking part?
The MV Awards give organisations the chance to officially recognise the contribution that young volunteers make. More importantly it’s an opportunity to say thank you. For the volunteer it is a chance to get more out of their volunteering experience by quantifying the contribution they make and adding to their CV.
