Saltire Awards – A Guide For Organisations

Saltire Awards are the new Scottish awards designed to formally recognise the commitment and contribution of youth volunteering to voluntary organisations.

Supported by the Scottish Government, the Saltire Awards enable young volunteers to record the skills, experience and learning gained through successful volunteering placements provided by local and national voluntary agencies.

The Awards are split into four sections – The Challenge, The Approach, The Ascent and The Summit – and achievement is recognised in the form of Saltire Award certificates and Young Scot reward points.

Saltire Awards are designed to encourage, enable and reward youth volunteering and to make it easy for organisations to support young people to take part.

How do I register to deliver the Saltire Awards?

Before putting any young people through the award, you must ensure that you have registered your organisation. To do this, please email us here and a member of the team will send you all of the documentation.

You then need to support your young people to register. There is a Volunteer Registration form for them to complete and this will be sent to you in your organisation welcome pack.

How do I request certificates?

Easy! Once you’re all registered, all it takes is one simple form, and we will produce the certificates for you. You will need to ensure you have validated the number of hours the volunteer has done, as you can request certificates after 10, 25, 50, 100, 200 and 500 hours of volunteering. We aim to provide the certificates within two weeks of receiving the request.
