There is a play coming to the REP Theatre in June which is about the Scots of the Spanish Civil War. The play is 549: Scots of the Spanish Civil War and has three shows: Friday 14 June at 7.30pm, Saturday 15 June at 2.30pm, and Saturday 15 June at 7.30pm.

As well as the show, there will also be an interactive exhibition that will tour alongside it. This will be in the foyer of the REP venue and will change to reflect the soldiers that volunteers from each region that we visit. Audience members will put on headphones and hear audio recordings about people from the area including from family members, historians, representatives from the International Memorial Brigade Trust and verbatim accounts from individuals that fought performed by the cast of the show.

We are actually looking for two volunteers per night to help encourage people to explore the exhibition. They wouldn’t need any technical knowledge, as we will provide training, so will just need an enthusiasm for engaging people in their local history. We have some people from the International Brigade Memorial Trust already signed up but could do with 3 more people (one per show).
