Gate Church International SCIO have been awarded a substantial grant from the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund to help the local community adopt low carbon lifestyles while providing help to those experiencing fuel and material poverty across Dundee. We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about the local community and about green-issues.

You will accompany the Project Coordinator on home visits for those wishing to take part in the Green Home Makeovers scheme. Each visit involves providing free energy advice to the householder and installing energy efficiency measures and a home energy monitor to help them reduce their fuel bills. Full training will be provided for installing energy efficiency measures (including Moving and Handling and Working at Height courses) and for those who are interested Energy Awareness training may be available.

The Church are also looking for volunteers who will be help us collect and sort clothing and household items which are donated through our Give Box scheme. These items are then distributed to a variety of partner organisations including Dundee Clothing Project and Starter Packs to help those most in need.

There are also opportunities to take part in community events promoting the Carbon Savings Project, including fayre’s, open days and swap shops.
