Helm provide employment and life skills training to disadvantaged young people and young parents,. They promote healthy living lifestyle, offer training and personal development courses for young people / parents and a range of social enterprise activities to support programme and generate incomes.

Help young people grow in confidence, learn new skills, and have fun in the kitchen! Working with our students is immensely rewarding – come and share your cooking and baking skills with us, and help young people take steps towards a great transition into adult life.

We work with 200 young people every year in Dundee aged 15-18, all of whom are working towards making the best possible transition they can make into adult life.

We have a fully equipped catering kitchen and breakout café area at Helm. Our students all love their time in the kitchen – we have a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, and we provide all students with the opportunity to develop the lifeskills needed to make good simple meals at home.

We are looking for volunteers who enjoy cooking and baking, and working with young people and who have time (and patience!) to share on a regular basis in the afternoons between 1.30 and 3pm. Ideally you will already have your food hygiene certificate, and experience of working in the catering sector.

We have a track record of supporting many volunteers over the years, and our very experienced staff will provide you with all support required to have a great volunteering experience.
