Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s leading dementia charity. Established in 1994, our entire organisation is dedicated to understanding the challenges dementia brings and supporting people with dementia and their partners, families and carers to meet these challenges and live well with dementia. Our main aim is that no-one should go through dementia alone.

Alzheimer Scotland have 3 new volunteering opportunities:

Day Care Support – The role will be within our Day-Care service which runs from Wednesday – Saturday (10.00 – 3.00). Volunteers will support our service users with a variety of social activities and interaction. This will be in small groups and on a 1-2-1 basis. Volunteers will be asked to assist staff with domestic tasks. (Volunteers will not be asked to support with personal care). Volunteers may be asked to lead activities and share interests/hobbies that may be suitable for our service users.

Kitchen Assistant – The Kitchen role will be within our Day-Care service which runs from Wednesday – Saturday (10.00 – 3.00). This role will assist support staff with daily refreshments and lunch within the service. Using pre-prepared foods, the volunteers will assist with maintaining the kitchen area, stores and housekeeping. Kitchen experience is desirable.

Scottish Dementia Working Group Support Assistant – This role is adhoc and required when there are Scottish Dementia Working Group (SDWG) meetings. Meetings can be local (Dundee) or further afield (Glasgow) and the volunteer would support the attendees of the SDWG who have dementia to maintain independence in travelling to these meetings. Opportunity also to support the SDWG worker facilitating the meetings.
