Yuliya Charankova from the Dundee Russian School is a finalist in the Volunteer Manager of the Year category at the 2019 Volunteer Awards.

Yuliya only began volunteering a year ago, but her efforts saw her quickly elected to become chair in September 2018. However, under Yuliya’s guidance, the Dundee Russian School’s entertainment programs and educational activities have reached a new milestone. She is well-known for coming up with creative ideas, all whilst supporting volunteers. For example, Yuliya has provided them with scripts, encouraged them to work on their acting skills, assisted them in selecting costumes and has helped design the stage for the best effects during performances. Yuliya also strives to develop volunteers individually; she supported one volunteer to become the school’s own sound engineer!

Yuliya spends a great deal of her time with volunteers – she is very proactive in recognising and rewarding their efforts, and they always have great fun working with her!

Best of luck at the Volunteer Awards Yuliya!
