Volunteering Opportunities – Working with Children and their parents
Aberlour Dundee is an early years and family support service based in the Lochee and Charleston area of Dundee. They work with vulnerable children and families affected by adversities including poverty, deprivation, and parental substance use and mental ill health.
Childrens Activities Assistant – We provide a family group drop in centre where families can come along for support and advice, while at the same time providing a safe environment for children to play. Welcome families into the group and making them feel comfortable. Assist children with activities that can vary from music, storytelling and dance; Help children with their emotional and physical wellbeing through activities such as arts and crafts; Help them to have fun and build their confidence and self esteem.
Play Ranger – Help in the facilitation of outdoor and indoor play activities for children and young people; Activities will include free play activities, drama, games, music and other activities including arts and crafts activities and in some cases taking children on outings to the park, swimming etc.; Encourage and support children to help plan and choose the kind of activities they would like to do, enabling them to experiment and learn about themselves and the world around them.
Befriender for Children & Families – Make a difference in a child or young person’s or a young parent’s life by spending regular time with a child or young person or parent; Help support families experiencing difficulties; Support them when difficulties arise; Share an activity/hobby; Complete a diary after each visit.
