#FeedMeAStory – Project Summary
#FeedMeAStory was a pilot project that aimed to present food cultures of Dundee (and wider Tayside) as dynamic creative experiences that support cultural tourism and offer an economic and social life of the city and local area. People came together and shared their love for food and this highlighted the sense of community that exists in Dundee.
#FeedMeAStory was a new social media platform which highlighted different food-related activity and events – such as community projects, social enterprises and independent business’ that are making a social and ethical impact through sharing their stories online of Dundee’s food thriving scene.
We explored how we can best tell these stories, and overall #FeedMeAStory to strengthen food as part of Dundee’s cultural tourism offer to visitors highlighting social good as well as new to market offers. The project worked in partnership between ourselves at Volunteer Dundee Media for Communities, funded by Scottish Enterprise, Open Change, Dundee Bairns, Dundee & Angus College.
#FeedMeAStory : The project aims were this to amplify Dundee’s food scene across all sectors.
- Creating networking opportunities for the city’s food and creative communities and promoted collaborative approaches to developing food as cultural tourism within the SME, Social Enterprise and Community projects.
- Supported connections and signposted Dundee’s food communities with the opportunities for further support afforded by the creative and enterprise support institutions in the city.
- Explored a multitude of creative storytelling approaches which included podcasts, zines, videos, digital stories, flavour bombing, food photography and food tours.

Sarah Amy Fishlock – an award winning artist who has exhibited internationally and whose work has been featured in The Guardian, The Independent and BBC. Sarah delivered a ‘zine and documentation workshop with – an award winning artist who has exhibited internationally and whose work has been featured in The Guardian, The Independent and BBC.
Liam McAlpine – Head chef at Glasgow’s Balcony Cafe (five star rated on Trip Advisor), this charismatic foodie regularly features on STV. The first one was discussing event work, pop-ups and own experiences and philosophy with Liam McAlpine. Alasdair Watson joined in as a top specialist photographer in this field, Alasdair’s clients include Hard Rock Cafe, Taste Buchanan, Whyte and MacKay, Glasgow’s Whisky Festival and Tasting Scotland. He showcased with Liam McAlpine plating up for best practice in food photography and how to utilise social media to advantage.
Overall #FeedMeAStory was a positive and enjoyable experience for participants, as it brought together different sectors together who might not normally collaborate or connect this is evidenced in feedback from events:

Design and Food Mash up with Baxendale Studio
Engagements have involved the community to make food in a design process for an outdoor kitchen for the Lochee ward the idea being that a prototype kitchen design can be built around the needs of the community to come to gather to cook and meal share outdoors to encourage small gatherings and education around healthy eating and food poverty issues. A group of Children 1st service users helped to inform the design and learned to cook under the guidance of Petr Chutny a fantastic carrot parmesan risotto! All at a cost of 76p per large portion.
