Dundee Museum of Transport (a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, SCO41529) is currently recruiting Trustees to join its governing board. This is a voluntary role. We are looking especially for individuals with professional experience in any of the following areas: Legal, Secretarial, Fundraising, Museums / visitor attractions or experience of working in the third sector.
This is an exciting time to be a Trustee with Dundee Museum of Transport. Having secured the site of the former Maryfield Tram Depot in 2014, the Board of Trustees are working towards strengthening the management of the museum in preparation for a major re-development project of this Grade ‘B’ listed building. Dundee Museum of Transport has been open at its Market Mews site for three years and is developing a fantastic collection of transport-related objects. It has established itself as an important attraction with the City.
The Board of Trustees meet monthly on a weekday during the last week of the month and a number of sub-committees have been set-up to support specific areas of the museum, from events to finance.
Experience of working in the third sector would be beneficial however it is not essential. Knowledge of museums is not required, although an interest in heritage is desirable.
We hope you will agree this is a fantastic opportunity to develop and utilise your skills to help run a successful small museum and take part in shaping its future development. For more information about the museum visit www.dmoft.co.uk.
You can find out more about the role and responsibilities of Trustees in The Essential Trustee Guide from the Charity Commission. For an informal chat please contact either the Chairman of the Board, Mr James McDonell or the Museum Manager, Samantha Bannerman, on tel: 01382 455 196
Deadline: Monday 31st July 2017
To apply: Please send expressions of interest together with a C.V. to: Mr James McDonell, Chairman, email@example.com or by post to Mr James McDonell, Chairman, Dundee Museum of Transport, Unit 10 Market Mews, Market Street, Dundee, DD1 3LA.
