Community Volunteer Initiative
In 1998, with regeneration funding, we set up a local volunteer centre in Midcraigie and Linlathen area after a successful pilot project; The Community Volunteer Initiative (CVI) was formed. Originally based in The Hub, CVI moved in 2004 to share premises with our Lend-a-Hand project. CVI has focused on raising awareness and developing community volunteering. They have worked with many local groups to help them to increase their capacity to recruit, support and retain volunteers.
Helping groups to attract more volunteers:
- Specialist rectruitment,
- Supporting the development of volunteer policies
- Help to access training and resources
- Provide support to groups offering placements to volunteers with additional support needs.
Raising the profile of volunteering
- Support Summer Festival committee.
- Promotions throughtout the year and during Volunteers' Week
- Local research
- Encouraging more young people to volunteer
Helping local people who don't normally get involved
- Offer additional support to people who want to volunteer
- Help to match volunteer to the right group
- Support with opportunities for personal development
