Charleston Better Connections Project
This project, based in Charleston, is a befriending project focusing on bringing together young and old to reduce isolation and increase access to services.
At Charleston Better Connections we want to involve members of the community in all areas of our work. We have several different opportunities and services available and we are always keen to give people a chance to help out or try something new.
Our befriending service
Anyone can feel lonely or isolated. When someone feels this way it can be hard to meet new people or get involved in something new.
Volunteer buddies help by meeting up with a partner, matched on a one to one basis and help them to do things that they want to do. Whether it’s to attend a local group or go shopping in the town centre, a buddy will provide support and guidance so that the matched partner can develop skills and confidence to build their own social networks and access these services independently.
Youth work/multi media
Our youth work project provides opportunities for young people to get involved in their community and also help them to find out about other volunteering opportunities across the city.If you wish to share your time why not consider volunteering with us.
Volunteers can expect:
• Fun
• Support
• Training
• A new experience to develop new skills
